One of the five new IIMs which started operations in 2010 will be conducting Common Admission Process (CAP) 2025 for 10 participating IIMs. The PI round in CAP is likely to be conducted in Online mode from February second week to March first week 2025. 1. What is IIM CAP 2025? Overview
Common Admission process or CAP 2025 is the final selection round for MBA admission 2025 in new and baby IIMs and is a Common selection round for all the participating IIMs. The number of CAP participating IIMs may increase or decrease. At present there are 10 IIMs which participate in Common Admission Process.
1.1 CAP is Single Point Selection Process in 10 IIMs
CAP 2025 is a single point selection process and is common for all the participating IIMs. The IIM CAP round consists of Personal Interview and Writing Ability Test but presently, in the post covid scenario, only Personal Interview is conducted in CAP process. Candidates are not required to separately appear in PI-WAT for each of the participating IIMs as the scores of CAP are applicable for all the participating IIMs. Final admission offer to the candidates is released by the new IIMs based on the performance in CAP round, CAT score, Academic Profile, diversity, work experience and their other individual selection parameters.
1.2 CAP 2025 to have Online PI Round
CAP is conducted in prominent cities of India but for admission 2025, it is likely to be conducted online and the candidates can appear in CAP round from their home. IIMs conduct the online interview process to minimize the travel costs for the applicants. Since there is no WAT in CAP 2025, the entire weightage will be given to PI round.
2. IIM CAP 2025 Registration Form: How to Fill- Step by Step Process
To fill IIM CAP 2025 form, follow the steps below:
Step-1: Register with your CAT 2024 ID, Mail Id and Date of Birth
After clicking on Register Now on IIM CAP website which is displayed on all the CAP IIMs home page, you will see Generate Your Password Screen. You will receive OTP on your registered Mobile Number and on Email ID
Step-2: Enter the received OTP and try to set a strong Password
After Generating your Password, you will be redirected to the Login Screen
Step 3: Login with your CAT ID and generated password.
3. IIM CAP 2025 Application Form: How to fill the Details? Complete in 6 Steps
After completing your registration process for CAP round, the next step is to fill CAP 2025 Application form with your Personal details, communication details, Educational qualification, Work experience and other details as below:
- 3.1 Fill Personal Information: On this page, you need to furnish personal details that you entered in CAT application form namely, Your name, gender, category, Bachelor’s degree like B.A., B Sc, Nationality, CAT Registration ID, Date of Birth. You also need to upload your CAT 2024 score card alongwith your personal details
- 3.2 Fill in Your Communication Address: On this page, you must fill your registered Mail Id, Mobile number, Father’s and Mother’s name that you provided in the CAT registration form. You need to enter your complete communication postal address with Pin code.
- 3.3 Fill Your Educational Qualification: On this page, you have to furnish details of your educational qualification from class 10 onwards. The details required are Year of passing, Board/University, Marks obtained/CGPA, Percentage of Marks. To substantiate the academic performance, you need to upload relevant marks sheets, certificates/degrees
- 3.4 Work Experience: On this page of IIM CAP 2025 Application form, you need to furnish details of your work experience in Reverse order. For example, the latest work experience details should be filled in first and the earlier work ex details should come after wards. While filling up your work experience, please note to provide details of Employment section, employer, Monthly salary, designation, period of work experience, total days of work experience. Please upload your work experience certificate on this page.
- 3.5 Fill in Co-Curricular Activities: If you have any co curricular achievement, you should mention it here. The page requires you to fill Name of the achievement, category District, State, National or International level and upload the relevant certificate for the same.
- 3.6 Sign the Declaration and Submit Online: The last part of CAP application form requires you to complete the declaration and sign the form. The form is complete now and you should submit it online on CAP website.

5. List of IIMs Participating in CAP 2025
The CAP round is organized for the IIMs which started operation in 2010-11 and for the new generation IIMs that started operation in 2015-16. It is the final selection round comprising common PI-WAT process for following 10 IIMs which are participating in CAP 2025:

5.1 CAP 2025 to Have only New and Baby IIMs
Out of total 13 new and baby IIMs, 10 IIMs will participate in new IIM Admission process -CAP 2025 for admission to their flagship MBA/PGP programs.
5.2 Five New Generation IIMs in CAP 2025
Out of 6 New IIMs that started operation in 2009-2010, 5 IIMs namely IIM Kashipur, IIM Raipur, IIM Ranchi, IIM Tiruchirappalli and IIM Udaipur are participating in CAP 2025. IIM Rohtak has opted out of Common Admission process and will conduct its own PI-WAT round.
5.3 Five Baby IIMs in CAP 2025
Out of the 7 Baby IIMs which started operation in 2015-2016, the 5 of them namely, IIM Bodh Gaya, IIM Jammu, IIM Nagpur, IIM Sambalpur, IIM Sirmaur are participating in CAP 2025.
5.4 IIM Rohtak, IIM Amritsar & IIM Visakhapatnam: Not Participating in CAP 2025
Out of all the new and baby IIMs, IIM Amritsar, IIM Rohtak and IIM Visakhapatnam are not participating in CAP 2025 and will conduct their own final admission process.
6. How CAP Round is conducted?
CAP round during the last 3 years is being conducted online. In the online conduct of CAP, personal interview is conducted online and writing ability test is not conducted. Accordingly, weightage for WAT is taken out of the maximum marks and is awarded to Personal Interview.

You can check your CAP shortlist status at CAP website which has a prominent link as https://cap2025.org/login. You need to login with your CAT 2024 registration ID and password. 8.2 CAP 2024 Shortlist: 20000+ Expected to be Shortlisted
The expected number of candidates proposed to be shortlisted are more than 20,000. However, the final number will depend on the final shortlisting criteria. With the increased number of seats at each IIM and more candidates taking CAT every year, it is expected that around 22000+ candidates who qualify the sectional and overall cut offs in CAT 2024 exam may figure in the CAP 2025 shortlist.

9. IIM CAP 2025: How to Participate in CAP 2025 – Check Below
- Register Free: There is no additional registration fee for the applicants.
- Regularly Check Your Mails: Keep checking your emails regularly and also check the spam folders to ensure that you don't miss any important communication. You should also check your phones for any message and communication from CAP IIMs
- Fill Forms with Correct Information: You should ensure to provide the correct information while filling out the forms, as any mistake might lead to cancellation of candidature later on.
- You Will Get Information of Shortlisting on Mail: All the shortlisted applicants will be informed of their status via email.
- Register Well Before the Last Date: The shortlisted applicants will have to register on CAP 2025 portal to participate in the selection process i.e.- Personal Interview round.
- Opportunity to Update Details: You will be given another opportunity to update your academic qualifications, work experience, if any.
- Appear in Online CAP on the Designated Date & Time: The applicants will have to appear in the online PI process on the date and time allocated to them.
Key Guidelines & Documents Required for CAP Registration
You need to fill the CAP 2025 registration form, if you are one of the candidates who are eligible to appear in CAP 2025 PI round. But before filling the CAP registration form, you should go through the below given guidelines and instructions carefully. Please note you will not be allowed to modify the registration form after it is submitted.
9.1 Required Documents
Keep the following documents in hand before filling the CAP 2025 registration form:
1. Soft copy of the Photograph (Less than 100 KB)
2. Soft copy of the Signature (Less than 100 KB)
3. Photo Identity Card Document
4. CAT 2024 Score Card
5. 10th & 12th Marksheet with a pass certificate
6. Graduation related certificates:
- Graduation Marksheet of all semester/years.
- Degree Certificate (If completed Graduation 3 years before)
- Provisional Degree Certificate is required for those who have completed the graduation in the year of 2024 but not received the degree certificate.
- Those who are in the final year graduation, s/he should upload the certificate as per the CAT 2024 format, which will be obtained from the competent authority by following the CAT website’s format.
- Certificate and mark sheets of any other degree-Masters/Professional Qualification as mentioned in the CAT form.
7. Experience related certificates:
- Please do not consider training and apprenticeship as an experience.
- Experience Certificate of all past companies. The certificate must be on the company letterhead with seal and signature of the competent authority.
- Service certificate is required from the company letterhead's competent authority with the seal and signature for those presently working. Otherwise, please provide the offer letter/Joining letter with a first-month payslip and payslip of the latest two (2) months.
- In case the candidate is a proprietor or partner of a firm, the candidate has to provide the document proof such as the income tax for the relevant period and a certificate of registration for doing a business from the municipal corporation or appropriate authorities such as MSME certificate issued by Govt. of India, Udyog Aadhar Registration Certificate, Partnership deed of the firm duly signed by all partners and GST registration certificate.
- In case a candidate has worked or is working in the unorganised sector, the candidate has to provide the cash voucher along with the bank statement as a proof for the salary and the GST registration of the firm with the experience certificate.
- Provide a valid caste certificate (NC-OBC/SC/ST) as per the format given on the CAT website. In the case of NC-OBC, it should be valid for the next six months from the date of registration.
- In the case of DAP/PWD, please provide the certificate following the format given on the CAT website.
- In the case of EWS, the certificate should be valid for the year 2024-25 (based on the income for the FY 2023-24). For format, please visit the CAT website.
- Co-curricular and extra-curricular certificates.
- Please check your inbox as well as SPAM or Junk or promotion boxes regularly.
9.2 Guidelines for CAP registration for candidates with Incomplete documents
- If you do not possess the required documents as specified in the CAP registration form, you are required to upload the available documents along with “Undertaking for Incomplete Documents” duly filled-in and signed by you.
- If you are facing the issues related to validity of the certificate, certificates printed in the regional languages, and/or different format other the CAT format for the certificates related to EWS/NC-OBC/DAP, please upload the document that you have along with the “Undertaking for Incomplete Documents” duly filled-in and signed by you.
- If you are presently a working candidate, please mention for the “To date”, the date of filling the registration form. However, consideration of experience for preparing the merit list/ score depends on the policy of the respective IIMs
9.3 IIM CAP 2025: Key Requirements to Participate in the Online CAP process
Instead of in person PI-WAT round, you might attend the CAP 2025 in Online mode with only PI round. Please note the following requirements for CAP personal interview round through online mode:
- Desktop/Laptop with camera
- Headphone/earphone
- Microphone
- Stable and high-speed Internet connection
- Stationary items such as pens/pencils/blank sheet
- Installation of Zoom software on Desktop/Laptop
- A white background or a clear background of a lighter colour ensuring better visibility
- A valid photo ID for verification
10. How to participate in Online CAP 2025?
- The link for Online Personal Interview will be sent to the candidate’s registered email ID two-three days prior to the interview
- Candidates are required to join the Online Personal Interview by clicking on the provided link to attend the interview on the designated date and time of the interview
- Candidates must be prepared for the interview with the necessary requirements as mentioned above on the designated date and time
- No person other than the candidate should be present in the interview room in the house/any other place
- Recording devices are strictly prohibited in the interview room
- The audio and video must be ‘on’ for the entire duration of the interview
- Candidates are advised to be available for the entire slot of PI round as communicated

13. New IIMs Intake through CAP 2025
The CAP participating IIMs had an intake of 2000+ seats last year for 10 IIMs. It is expected that the intake will increase further before the final admission offer is released by 10 IIMs. Since IIMs are now empowered to award MBA degree instead of earlier PGDM and as MHRD has also impressed upon these IIMs to increase their intake in coming academic sessions, the list of 10 IIMs with the proposed intake for MBA 2025-27 is:

14. CAP 2025 Centers
CAP 2025 centres are five at New Delhi, Mumbai, Bengaluru, Chennai and Kolkata. However, since CAP 2025 may be conducted online, candidates can attend the PI round from their home on the designated date which will be communicated by the CAP coordinating IIM to the short-listed candidates.
15. CAP 2025 Rules: New IIM Admission Process
Common Admission Process (CAP) 2025 Rules for admission to MBA/PGDM 2025-27 are:
- Individual IIMs will not prepare shortlist based on CAP cut offs. A common shortlist will be prepared by the CAP coordinating IIM. The shortlisting criteria for all the IIMs participating in the CAP 2025 process are the same.
- From the combined list, Candidates will be called for the New IIMs Common Admission Process comprising Common Personal Interview (PI). WAT may not be conducted for admission 2025
- Request for change of CAP centre 2025 should reach the admission cell/e-mail ID of CAP coordinating IIM on or before the last date which may fall in the last week of January/first week of February, 2025. These requests will be accommodated solely at the discretion of CAP conducting IIM and would be communicated to candidates.
- Each IIM will take the PI score of the candidates shortlisted by them and combine it with other scores-CAT 2024 Score, Profile score and any other score to make their own individual merit list to make final admission offers to the candidates.
- Only PI will be conducted commonly for the new IIMs.
- The final merit list of candidates will be arrived by each IIM according to its own selection criteria.
- These criteria will be available on the websites of the respective institutes.
- Candidates may also be informed that attending the CAP 2025 process is compulsory for all the shortlisted candidates.
16. How to know when to participate in CAP 2025?
The shortlisted candidates can check their CAP 2025 dates on website of respective IIMs and will also be informed on their registered mail. The candidates who are not shortlisted by the 10 new IIMs will not be sent further communication.
17. Coordination process between New and old IIMs
Students shortlisted for some older IIMs might not have to appear for the CAP, as some of the older IIMs will share their Personal Assessment (PA) scores with CAP Coordinating IIM. Those candidates who have been called by more than 1 older IIM will have their scores averaged across the IIMs where they have been interviewed. Finally, the scores of PA Process will be shared with the other IIMs participating in CAP, who will then make their own merit lists according to the normalized scores.
18. New IIMs CAP 2025: Step by Step Process
Step 1: Shortlist by Individual IIMs
Each of the new IIMs will shortlist the candidates independent of each other. Candidates are shortlisted at the 1st stage around 10 to 12 times of the intake for MBA admission 2025 by each IIM. It may create the multiplicity of calls for the same candidate if he/she meets the shortlisting criteria of many IIMs.
Step 2: Each IIM sends shortlist to CAP 2025 Coordinator IIM
Each CAP participating IIM forwards its list of shortlisted candidates to the CAP 2025 coordinating IIM.
Step-3: CAP Conducting IIM to create Final List of Shortlisted Candidates for CAP 2025 Calls
CAP coordinating IIM will combine the list of all participating IIMs and prepare a final list of candidates for CAP 2025 Calls. The IIM will then send out calls to these candidates. More than 20,000 candidates are to get New IIMs CAP 2025 Calls.
Step 4: Candidates to participate in PI Process
CAP 2025 Personal Assessment (PA) round will only have Personal Interview (PI) as Written Abilities Test (WAT) may not be conducted. Also there will be no Group Discussion. A candidate will be asked to appear in CAP through Online mode instead of at one of the 5 CAP Centers New Delhi, Mumbai, Bengaluru, Chennai and Kolkata.
Step 5: CAP 2025 Scores to be sent by Coordinating IIM to participating IIMs
Based on the performance of the candidates in the PI round, CAP coordinating IIM will prepare the scores for the CAP Round. This will be sent to all the participating IIMs after CAP round is over.
Step 6: All IIMs to prepare their own Final Admission List
Each participating IIM has its own admission policy. They will provide weightages to CAT scores, CAP scores, and in some cases Applicants Profile, for making final admission offers. It is very much possible that one of the new IIMs may not send you final admission offer while others offer you admission based on your CAT 2023 scores and other parameters.

Select the “Others Option” under UG Degree then specify your “Degree Name” wherein you can type your Integrated course name and provide the semester wise marks |

Upload the Bonafide Certificate issued by the Competent Authority of the College/Institute/University as per the format available under the Download format section in CAP Registration process |

How to Correct the Class 10, 12 and Graduation percentage of marks which were wrong entered in CAT 2024 application form? |
An option to enter correct data is available in the CAP-2025 form. Once the change has been done, the candidate will receive an acknowledgment mentioning the correction requested for. After completing the CAP-2025 form, no additional corrections will be permitted. The corrections requested for, if any, are subject to verification by CAP-2025 Coordinator along with the necessary supporting documents uploaded by you |

I have not received provisional degree/certificate from my institution/university. What should I do? |
Although it is mandatory for the Candidates to submit the Provisional Degree Certificate/Degree Certificate at the time of registering for CAP-2025, however, those who have completed or will be completing the degree in 2025 are allowed to submit an Undertaking as per the Format available in the Download Format section of the landing page in the CAP Portal |

In case CAP 2025 website does not work, what should I do? |
If the registration website is not accessible for any reason, please close your Internet browser and try again. Ensure you have a stable internet connection and have cleared the cache files. The Registration/Application Form is best viewed in the Mozilla Firefox and Google Chrome browsers |
