1. What is MAT?

Organized by All India Management Association (AIMA), MAT Exam is an important national MBA entrance that is accepted for MBA Admission by 500+ MBA colleges in India. Compared to CAT exam, MAT is a relatively easy MBA entrance exam. MAT 2024 is held in three modes i.e. Computer Based Test (MAT CBT), Paper Based Test (MAT PBT) and Internet Based Test (MAT IBT). Candidates can select any two modes to take the exam. MAT CBT and PBT are popular modes to take MAT Exam. MAT Exam is divided into 5 key sections namely Language Comprehension, Mathematical skills, Data Analysis and Sufficiency, Intelligence and Critical Reasoning, Indian and Global Environment with 40 questions in each section.

4. MAT 2024 Exam Registration Process

Check step by step details of MAT 2024 Registration and MAT Application Form Filling. You can register for MAT Exam on AIMA MAT Official Website by following steps:

STEP 1: Select MAT Test Mode: You shall be given an option of selecting at least one and maximum of two test modes in Step 1 of the application form. Select from CBP, PBT or IBT Exam options.

 

STEP 2: Upload Your Photo and Signature: Photograph must be a recent passport size color photo. The photo image file should only be in .jpg or .jpeg format. Size of file should not be less than 10KB and more than 50KB.

 

STEP 3: Select Management Institutes (MI): If you are taking MAT Test in any one mode, you can select upto 5 MBA Colleges, referred as Management Institutes. If you opt for double test modes, you can select 2 more colleges for sending your score.

 

STEP 4: Make Exam Fees Payment: After selecting MI choices, you shall be directed to the payment page. Payment of registration fee can be made through Debit/ Credit Card/ Net Banking/ Wallet.

 

STEP 5: Fill Personal Particulars: Fill your personal details on the online registration form.

 

STEP 6: Fill Qualification & Experiences: Next, fill your Educational Qualification and Experience details. 

 

STEP 7: Fill Additional Information: AIMA MAT may require some additional information. Fill it and complete the MAT registration process.

5. MAT May 2024 Eligibility Criteria

Often students ask, what is MAT 2024 Exam Eligibility Criteria? MAT Exam Eligibility criteria is very simple:

  • You should be interested in taking MBA/PGDM Admission
  • You should be a graduate
  • Or you should be studying in the final year of graduation

Important Note: Merit Score in the exam is calculated on the basis of first 4 sections only, and the score of Indian & Global Environment is separately shown but is not taken into account to calculate the merit or percentile in the score card.

Unique MAT Scoring Pattern

MAT scoring pattern is unique. The score card displays scaled score out of 800 Marks and not out of 160 or 200 raw scores. While each correct answer is awarded +1 Mark, each wrong answer is penalized with negative marking of -0.25 mark. Merit Score is calculated on the basis of 4 sections only and the score of Indian & Global Environment is separately shown but is not taken into account to calculate the merit or percentile in the score card.

10. MAT Exam Admit Card: How to Download?

You can download Feb MAT 2024 exam admit card from AIMA MAT website till the exam day. MAT 2024 Feb Exam date is scheduled in IBT, PBT as well as CBT Mode. The Internet Based (IBT) Mode exam can be taken from the comfort of your home while PBT and CBT exams can be taken at designated test centres. While MAT Feb 2024 Internet Based Mode (IBT) Mode exam will be conducted in longer testing window, the PBT and CBT exams will be conducted in a single day on different dates. The last dates for MAT Registration are different for each IBT exam, while for CBT and for PBT exams the last date to apply closes a few days before the exam date.

A. Official May MAT 2024 dates are yet to be announced. However, exam is expected from May 12-June 2, 2024.

 

Q. What is MAT IBT?
A. MAT IBT is the new mode of exam which was introduced by AIMA from 2020. Full form of IBT is – Remote Proctored Internet Based Mode. This can be taken from your home as in IBT exam candidates can appear from the convenience of their home instead of going to an exam centre.

 

Q. What are the dates to apply for MAT 2024?
A. Application process for May MAT 2024 is yet to open.
 

Q. What are the test timings for IBT exam?
A. On each day of IBT exam, there are two slots for the test – morning and evening. You need to check carefully your exam slot.

Q. How is MAT percentile calculated?
A. AIMA first converts raw score into composite score and calculates the percentile. The GK section score is not taken into account for composite and percentile score calculation

A. There are 600 score accepting colleges notified by AIMA including 300 MBA colleges in Maharashtra which accept MAT score for admission to All India category candidates.

Q. Which is better MAT or CMAT?
A. Both are good MBA entrance exams conducted at National Level. There are some MBA colleges who do not accept MAT but accept CMAT and vice versa.

 

Q. Is MAT marking negative?
A. Yes, MAT scoring pattern is +1 mark for right answer and - 0.25 mark for wrong answer.

 

Q. What is a passing score for the MAT test?
A. MAT composite score is awarded in the range of 200 to 800. It is rare that a candidate gets a composite score below 200.

    Different colleges have different cut off for admissions 2022. Colleges like JAGSoM Bangalore expect 90+ percentile whereas colleges like IIRM Hyderabad have cut off of 60+ only.
