5.1 MAH CET MBA CET Vs MAH MMS CET
The MMS is very similar to MBA. For example JBIMS is a top MMS college affiliated to Mumbai University while PUMBA – the Pune university department of management is another top MBA college which offers MBA degree. The admission process in both of the colleges is through MAH MBA/MMS CET exam and through DTE CAP.
The key difference between MAH MBA CET and MAH MMS CET is:
- MMS like MBA is a University Degree programme
- An MMS college can be an autonomous college, affiliated to a university to enable it to confer university degree of Masters in Management Studies.
- MMS like MBA is the post graduate degree management programme and stands for Masters in Management Studies
- Like MBA it is 2 years full time management degree program duly approved and recognized by UGC/AICTE.
- An MBA is offered by University Management department, University B-school or a B-school affiliated to UGC recognized University
- The MMS curriculum as offered by the MMS College is similar to a regular MBA program.
- An MMS college offers specializations like MBA in areas like marketing, systems, HR, operations, and finance, Analytics among others.
- Universities offering MMS and the colleges offering MMS offer more industry ready courses than the MBA colleges. The reason is that MMS college curriculum is designed to provide not only theoretical knowledge but also advanced practical content as the MMS Universities have stronger tie ups with corporates and industry
- An MMS college can offer a successful career in industry as the student is industry ready by the time he/she comes out of the MMS college after completing the course.

On account of complaints received by the CET Cell about some candidates getting less than mandatory examination time due to various technical issues during the MAH MBA CET 2023 examination and also some candidates other than those belonging to the PWD category getting 180 minutes instead of mandatory 150 minutes in the said examination, the CET Cell instituted an Enquiry Committee to look into all such complaints about the examination. On the basis of the Enquiry Committee Report, the CET Cell had decided to hold re-examination and had shared following eligibility criteria to apply for the re-exam:
- Option for Candidates getting Less Time: Candidates who could not complete the examination due to technical issues within mandatory examination time and who wish to reappear for the examination

The CET Cell has clarified, “The above mentioned candidates are also beings intimated through their registered e-mail and SMS on their registered cell phone number. Please note that it will be the responsibility of the eligible candidates to print their admit card and appear for the examination at the center as per the time and schedule mentioned in their Admit Card.”
The Re-Examination for both 1) and 2) above was scheduled on 06/05/2023 from 9 AM to 11 30 AM. MAH MBA CET 2023 exam was held on March 25 & 26, 2023 at 191 centres for admission to about 40000 MBA/MMS/PGDM seats in more than 330 management institutes in Maharashtra. Exam was of moderate difficulty level and expected cut off for 99 percentile is likely to remain between 160 marks. MBAUniverse.com had released MAH CET 2023 exam analysis immediately after the exam was over with key details about exam pattern, difficulty level, good attempts, expected score Vs percentile, likely cut offs and more.
However, many MBA aspirants complained of glitches in the timers during the first slot of MAH CET exam held on Saturday March 25, 2023 which, according to them, gave undue advantage to students who got extra time. DTE Maharashtra CET Cell had set up an inquiry to look into these complaints for both the slots of MAH MBA/MMS-CET 2023 held on March 25. Many students demanded re-examination. As such Cet Cell has announced to conduct re exam.
Reported Glitches and Complaints by MAH CET 2023 Test Takers
Several MAH CET 2023 test takers had reported following glitches and had complained to CET CELL
- The timer in the same exam centre was set for different times.
- MAH CET was of 150 minutes exam, but on some of the computer terminals, the timer was set for 180 minutes. This gave some students 30 minutes extra, which very crucial in a competitive exam
- The computer server was also down at one of the centres in Amravati and no extra time was given to test takers.
- Some students got logged out and they had to log in again, losing time in the process
- One of the test takers who appeared in MAH CET for the second time, pointed out that due to the delays in the first slot, the exam in the second slot started late evening instead of at 2 PM in a few centres in the state
- By the evening hours, the questions and the solution sets were already available online and these test takers also got an unfair advantage
- It has also been reported that at a centre in Nagpur the 2nd slot exam started after 9 PM on March 25.
- If these complaints are true, many meritorious students who aspire to get seats in the top colleges such as JBIMS, SIMSREE, PUMBA and others, may lose admission opportunity.
Students’ Demand for Re-Test of MAH CET 2023
- CET Cell should conduct Re-Test to bring parity among the test takers as many candidates were favoured by giving 30 minutes extra time
- As due to late start of 2nd slot after online availability of questions & solutions, impact on Merit List is inevitable.
- This would affect the admissions adversely. So, at the affected test centres the MAHCET for both the March 25 slots should be conducted again
Action Taken by DTE Maharashtra
- After receiving complaints in the form of messages, telephone calls and emails from several students who appeared in MAH CET 2023 on March 25, in different cities, the CET cell had decided to conduct an inquiry into the glitches.
- Mahendra Warbhuvan, the CET cell commissioner had confirmed that an inquiry committee, headed by the Director, Directorate of Technical Education was constituted to thoroughly examine all the complaints
- Based on the Inquiry Committee report, MAH MBA CET 2023 Re-exam has been announced
